Life Has Seasons — This Is Why You Feel Stuck

I was standing at our local dam the other day, watching the water spill over the edge.

What made it so powerful wasn’t just how full it was… it was what I knew about it.

Four months ago, it was completely empty.

Bone dry - 0%.

You could walk right down to the bottom.

And now? Overflowing.

It got me thinking about something we don’t talk about enough when it comes to growth, healing, and doing the inner work…

The seasons of our lives.

Because if you’ve ever felt stuck… drained… like nothing’s happening despite all the effort you’re putting in…

You’re not broken, you may be just in a different season.

The Mistake We All Make

When that dam was empty, no one stood there expecting water.

It was summer. Dry. Hot. Predictable.

But here’s the key…

They didn’t stop maintaining it.  They didn’t say, “What’s the point? There’s no water.” They kept doing the upkeep - doing "the work".

Because they understood the season they were in.

And I think this is where a lot of us struggle.

We’re doing the work — showing up, trying to grow, trying to shift old patterns, unravel old stories…

But when we don’t see results quickly, we start questioning everything.

  • “Is this even working?”
  • “Am I wasting my time?”
  • “Why do I still feel like this?”

You’re Not Stuck — You’re in a Season

What if nothing’s gone wrong?

What if this part — the frustration, the dryness, the doubt — is actually part of the process?

Because just like nature, your inner world moves in cycles.

There are times of growth - Spring
Times of testing - Summer
Times of rest - Winter
And times of harvest - Autumn

And when you understand that… something shifts.

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter (Internally)

Spring

Spring is that beautiful phase where everything feels alive again.

You’ve got energy, Clarity, Momentum.

Ideas are flowing, opportunities are showing up, and you feel connected.

It’s exciting. It feels like expansion.

But it doesn’t last forever.

Because then comes summer.

Summer

And summer is where things get tested.

This is where the heat comes in.

Where the work you’ve done gets challenged.

Where old triggers might resurface. Where pressure builds.

It’s uncomfortable… but it’s also where real growth happens.

Autumn

Then comes autumn.

This is the harvest.

This is where you start to see the results of everything you’ve been through.

Things begin to make sense.
You feel stronger.
More grounded.

There’s a quiet confidence that starts to emerge.

And then winter arrives.

Winter

Winter is the one most people resist.

It’s slower.
Quieter.
Sometimes even a bit empty.

But winter isn’t failure.

It’s restoration.

It’s where the roots go deeper.

It’s where integration happens.

And if you skip this… you burn out.

The Dry Season Isn’t the End

Going back to that dam…

Imagine if they had stopped maintaining it when it was empty.

Imagine if they had just given up because there was no water.

When the rains came, they wouldn’t have been ready.

And that’s the part I want you to really take in.

Just because you can’t see the results right now… doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

Sometimes you’re preparing.

Sometimes you’re strengthening.

Sometimes you’re clearing space for what’s coming next.

And sometimes… you’re just being asked to trust the season you’re in.

It Can Change Faster Than You Think

Two months.

That’s all it took for that dam to go from empty… to overflowing.

Two months.

Life can shift quickly.

Energy can shift quickly.

Perspective can shift quickly.

But only if you stay in the game.

Only if you keep doing the work.

So If You Feel Stuck Right Now…

Take a breath.

Zoom out.

And ask yourself:

What season am I actually in?

Because once you understand that…You stop fighting the process and you stop judging yourself so harshly.

You start working with your life instead of against it.

Keep going - Keep preparing - and when your season changes, because it will, you’ll be ready.

I just want to leave you with this…

You’re not behind.

You’re not broken.

You’re just in a season.

And it won’t last forever.
