If you’ve ever stared at a blank page trying to write a script and can't figure out what to say, OR found yourself clinging to notes when recording, you’ll know how draining it can be. The good news? You don’t actually need a script to make engaging, natural videos.
In fact, the easiest way to create content that feels real (and gets done quickly) is by using video prompts.
Why Scripts Hold You Back
As an author, coach, course creator or therapist, you already have so much wisdom inside you. But when you try to force it into a rigid script, it feels stiff. You lose the spark that comes naturally when someone asks you a great question and you just answer from the heart.
The Power of Prompts
That’s where video prompt cards come in. Instead of scripting every word, you simply:
- Read a question from the card.
- Answer it naturally, as if someone just asked you in conversation.
- Move on to the next question.
Later, you can easily edit out the gaps between questions (I’ll show you how in the next video). The result? A polished, authentic video — recorded in minutes.
A Different Kind of Content
Not every video needs to solve a problem. There are so many topics that you can talk about so don't force yourself. One example is this video prompt I am sharing today - What fired you up this week. Maybe it was a news story, a new discovery in your industry, or something that really struck a nerve. Sharing your passion in the moment builds connection and trust.
The “What Fired You Up” video prompt card gives you five simple questions to guide you:
- What fired you up this week?
- Why did it strike such a nerve?
- What’s the biggest lesson or truth?
- What do you want people to know or do differently?
- What’s the next step they can take?
Answer those, and you’ve got a video packed with authenticity, passion and practical value.
You can get the downloadable video prompt card here.

I love the idea of pulling a card and having a prompt. Could these prompts work for a video shot in interview, authority style. I'm thinking of giving the card to someone, and have them ask me the questions. I'd be sitting, but not directly facing the camera when I answer the questions. I could edit out them asking the question, but it would be like I'd been interviewed – Could that work well?
