If you freeze when the camera turns on, or if scripting your videos feels more painful than productive, this one’s for you.
This week’s blog is inspired by a brilliant question from our Authentics community:
"Do you recommend using a script, and if so, how can I make it feel more natural?"
It’s a great question — and one I hear often. While scripts can be helpful, they can also make your delivery sound robotic, stilted, or just… not like you.
So instead of scripting, I’m offering you something better — something I’ve used for years with clients who struggle to show up on video authentically:
The Video Prompt Card – “Solve a Problem” Edition (and it’s free!)
Why This Works So Well
I’ve worked with clients who came alive in Zoom calls — passionate, articulate, full of ideas. But the minute they hit record on a solo video? The spark vanished.
Why? Because talking to a camera is hard. But talking with someone, drawing from your extensive knowledge is natural.
That’s the secret behind the video prompt card. It helps you skip the performance and speak with ease, as if you were helping a real person (because you are).
What’s Inside the Prompt Card
This first prompt card focuses on problem-solving content, one of the most effective (and search-friendly) video formats.
On the front:
5 simple questions to guide your video — no script needed.
On the back:
Tips and examples to help you answer each question with confidence.
Here’s a peek at the 5 questions:
- What problem is your audience facing right now?
- Why is this happening for them?
- What’s your experience with this (or a client’s)?
- What can help shift it?
- What do you want your audience to do next?
Each one builds trust, showcases your expertise, and leads to a powerful, authentic video — even if you’re just getting started.
How to Use It
Use the card solo or with a friend. Ask yourself the questions out loud and answer naturally, or get someone to interview you and edit out their voice later.
Bonus tip: You don’t need to solve the entire problem. Just give your audience a helpful insight — a “Panadol moment”. When someone experiences a benefit, trust is strengthened and they will want more from you.
